Riz Ahmed covers British GQ; has blond hair

- GQ talks about Riz Ahmed’s successful, break out year with “The Night Of”, calling it a “happy accident” since he decided to try his luck with U.S. TV/movies after not feeling satisfied with what was being covered in British media.
- They also talk about how the media has made him the poster person for Muslim actors since he’s transcending diversity with his roles
- How he remains vocal about racial profiling and needing representation in the media
- He has two upcoming movies (which is why they're featuring him): Venom, where he plays Carlton Drake; and The Sisters Brother, a western with Jake Gyllenhaal, John C. Reilly, and Joaquin Phoenix

Riz Ahmed & Mohsin Hamid at Lahore Literary Festival 2018

- Riz Ahmed joined novelist Mohsin Hamid at one of the most anticipated sessions at the Lahore Literary Festival 2018 called “MC Activist”
- This is Ahmed’s first time visiting Pakistan in 13 years and first time visiting Lahore; likens it to visiting an ex
- Is amazed at how Pakistan has changed and how out of touch families who migrated in the 60s and 70s are from it (like his parents)
- Talks about how creating is an act of defiance and survival because of the issues that people of color deal with, which Hamid agrees with saying it’s a way to combat the helplessness people feel
- Wants to try to connect with other creatives and artists in Pakistan to collaborate
- Hamid asks Riz what he thinks about his ex/Pakistan, to which he responds ““The ex is looking good. Changed a lot…really changed. Kinda still playing hard to get, ever mysterious and a little schizophrenic.”

Riz Ahmed posted a video on his Twitter today encouraging people to help save lives in Syria by donating to the #10for10 campaign: Donate $10 and ask 10 of your other friends to also donate $10.

So far it's raised $18, 176.

- Talks about how acting is a way for him to let go as he's a "control freak"
- One time, he decided to follow stage directions to "wail uncontrollably" and it was a disaster
- Finds it interesting how chemistry on set translates off set (i.e. him and Jake Gyllenhaal got too close and would try not to get annoyed with him lol)
- Still stunned by "The Night Of's" success because it almost never got made; the pilot was shown in 2012 and it didn't get picked up at first
- Thought "The Night Of" would get lost in the mix of amazing TV that's been on lately
